Configure squid proxy

No really a fedora question.

I have installed squid on an AWS instance that I want to use for an http proxy with a password.

First off, I'm just trying to add an ACL to allow any network address to use squid (by default, I think it only lets 192.168.0.0/24)

I've added

Code:

http_access allow all

acl all src 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0

but when I try and load a page I get

PHP Code:

The following error was encountered while trying to retrieve the URLhttp://www.google.co.uk/

Superblock in future is still a problem

Hello All,

I just installed F17 on my clock-free embedded system board. However it still has that problem where the bootup fails because the superblock has a future time in it. The specific message is something like:

UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY: RUN fsck MANUALLY

...

Superblock last mount time ...etc... is in the future

If you search for "superblock future" on google, there are ways of fixing it on a non-embedded system. You can alter /etc/e2fsck.conf to ignore the problem by adding "broken_system_clock=true" to the file. However when installing F17 directly into an embedded system, it seems to ignore that /etc/e2fsck.conf file, probably because the bootup phase loads a ramdisk initially.

Anyways, it would be nice if F17 could be installed in clockless embedded systems. That is all!

installing D-link DFE-530TX+ fedora 11

Apparently the NIC built into the motherboard of my wife's desktop (Fedora 11) has died. It refuses to see either her ethernet cable or mine, though mine works fine on my computer. So I bought a NIC, a D-link DFE-530TX+, picked specifically because I had seen it listed as one that Linux supports.

It arrived today, and I plugged the card into the PCI socket, but am not sure at all what to do next to get my wife back online. The card is not among those listed when I try to use the admin tools that came with the version of Fedora installed. I was able to locate and download a driver from the D-link site, but still don't know how to get it installed and working.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

Asus bw-12d1s-u/blk/g

http://www.amazon.com/External-Blu-R...6167787&sr=8-1

One of my good friends bought me a used ASUS BW-12D1S-U/BLK/G Blu-Ray optical drive with Super Speed USB 3.0 technology from Amazon recently. I have an ASUS N61JV-X2 notebook PC with 8.00 gigabytes of dual-channel DDR3 1,066 MHz SDRAM and an Intel 2nd Generation 2.5" MLC NAND FLASH X25-M 160.00 gigabyte Solid State Drive. It comes with Super Speed USB 3.0 and a nVIDIA GT 325M GPU with nVIDIA Optimus technology. I installed Red Hat Fedora 16 64 bit GNU/Linux as my primary operating system of choice.

I have not received delivery of this specific product yet. Based on the customer reviews, it looks to be compatible with Ubuntu GNU/Linux.

I do have a few general questions:

1. Do I need to download and install special device drivers to make this work on Red Hat Fedora 64 bit GNU/Linux? Is it truly plug and play right out of the box? Does anyone here have this specific ASUS Blu-Ray optical drive too?

2. Do I need to download and install any specific software packages so that I can watch Blu-Ray movies? I have a Netflix account and I paid an extra $2.00 USD per month to be able to rent both DVD-Videos and Blu-Ray discs. I have never watched a Blu-Ray movie on my computer beforehand. I prefer to watch DVD-Video movies using VLC. Will VLC be able to play Blu-Ray discs right out of the box? If I do need to install additional software packages, then what do I need to install and how do I do that?

3. I would like to be able to write to blank CD-R, DVD +/- R/RW, and Blu-Ray discs. Will K3b, Brasero, and other software packages be able to write data to these different disc formats right out of the box or do I need to install additional software packages or plug-ins or add-ons? If so, then what do I need to install and how do I do that?

4. I use Hand Brake, sound-juicer, and Asunder along with K9Copy to rip, encode, compress music CDs and DVD-Videos. Can I use the same software packages to rip, encode, and compress Blu-Ray discs too? What software packages will allow me to do this right out of the box for Blu-Ray discs? How do I install them and use them?

I am thinking that this will work right out of the box for me since I already have an ASUS N61JV-X2 notebook PC and an ASUS EEE Pad Transformer 16.00 gigabyte tablet. I have had no problems with ASUS branded hardware products with Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit Long Term Support or Red Hat Fedora 16 64 bit GNU/Linux previously.

Amazon sent me a SMS text message stating that I should expect delivery of this ASUS BW-12D1S-U/BLK/G this upcoming Monday.

I have an AdvancED USB 3.0 Hub with an AC adapter plug. It has four Super Speed USB 3.0 ports.

If you can answer my questions, then that would be great. Thank you.

FC15 cifs share with "user" parameter

I'm running FC15 with a couple cifs shares that map to a windows machine, and up until yesterday, everything was running fine, but today, I tried to access the share from Fc15 and I got a pop-up error saying that cifs shares did not support the "user" parameter.

I was able to resolve the issue by editing my /etc/fstab file and removing the "user" parameter and remounting the drives, but why would cifs not support this parameter all of a sudden?

Alienware M17 x R3

Hi I just got this beauty and tried to install Fedora but can't get my graphic to work.

Problem seems to be with hybrid solution of graphic.

I have there integrated Intel HD 3000 and Geforce 560m GTX

these cards are switching dynamically depends on battery state. I have tried to disable Intel card but there isn't such a option.

Any suggestion ?

Making Windows Media Center available in Windows 8

In this post we wanted to update you on Media Center and Windows 8, specifically how we will make sure Windows 8 fully supports the capabilities of Media Center as it is in Windows 7. We took the feedback about maintaining the functionality very seriously, and we clearly understood what we've heard many of you saying around the value of Media Center for movies, Internet TV, broadcast TV, optical media, music, photos, and all the other scenarios it covers today. Many said in comments and email to us, that so long as the feature is available somehow it is fine. This post is how we will deliver on that and continue to support Media Center for another product lifecycle. f17 on AMD Phenom bugs so far

Im running an HP a6700F desktop, pretty much stock except a radeon 4600 series gpu (a4650PE1G to be exact) on a Sanyo 26" LCD tv for my monitor using HDMI.

I am not using LIVE USER I am using beta as an install. Here's what I have found so far, hope it helps.

1) Screen ratio. This has been an ongoing problem where the choice of the 4 ratio's leaves me no choice but to select the 4:3 ratio, as the 16x9's spill off the edge. Radeon has a windows driver that allows you to adjust the display area to fit odd-sized screens, no support for linux. How about an option to scale display area? This is less a "bug" as it is a suggested feature. Also, netbook screens would benefit from this.

2) User accounts. Currently updated, when i go to log in it does not show the user. I CAN type my username and password in, and login from there. So luckily no errors with it not recognizing after install.

3) User accounts part B: when logged in, and going into user accounts, when you "unlock" to say, change password or profile picture, there are no accounts listed. The GOOD news is when you go to "add" an account, if you type your current user account it will recognize that exists. you just cant edit it.

3) Youtube requires an mp3 codec not yet available (that I could find) and some other video decoder. These may be available directly, im not sure yet. BUT The GOOD NEWS is it doesn't ask me to install flash player. I remember Fedora 16 I had to install flash in firefox to get youtube to work in chrome (installing in chrome failed every time).

Thats it for my observations. I know this is a beta with many bugs to be worked out, I hope this information is useful somehow. I cant wait until the final release ^^

I'll update this thread if i notice any more bugs glitches or such.

Normal users can't perform standard actions | No session found for UID 1000 (unknown)

I have the issue shown in thread http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=278175 (marked as SOLVED)

but here I'm not able to "solve" it checking a systemd, pam or polkit multilib presence.

I found some bugs filed in bugzilla, mostly only partially related or closed because the issue disappeared with an update, but without a discovery on the issue.

I've performed a yum update from F16 as Hansvon, following the common safe practices outlined in the wiki. Everything was fine, I've logged in and out for a couple of days, when suddenly

- I can't try to connect to _any_ wireless network as normal user. Saved wireless credentials are not available for the normal user. Wireless works only if I login as root: only as root I find all the saved wireless networks --> I get error "No session found for UID 1000 (unknown)" if I try to add a new wireless network

- Audio does not work anymore, only "output dummy" (muted) shows up if logged in as standard user.

Audio does work if I login as root.

- I cannot mount any partition via dolphin ("Not authorized") when in KDE, and I can't mount any partition as normal user in GNOME and XFCE as well. Only partitions mounted at boot (/etc/fstab) are available to normal user.

- I cannot change KDM settings ("Not authorized") as normal user

Actually, my /etc/sudoers is the same as with F16, and it contains
